A Friendly Hello from a New 986 Owner

Hello.

My name is Cory I just purchased my first Porsche. Its a White 2000 986 Boxster 2.7L. Very excited to be here and meet some new people. My car is a tiptronic and stock.

My daily driver is a 2006 Volvo V50 but I look forward to the Boxster for the summer months in New Hampshire/Mass.

I posted a couple of pictures of the new ride.

Happy to be here. Thanks!

Welcome

Great looking car and color combo! However, it's not stock: you've got clear corners in you headlight pods and clear side marker lights. Now, get to work driving it and making it more "not stock" to your liking. Be careful though... the mod bug bites hard and it's a very slippery slope ;)

Congrats and drive her in good health :)

Welcome to a great place audisnawb!!
Enjoy your Boxster on all those great New England roads, but latch that frunk before you see what the top end is!!! :D

Yes Welcome aboard! Great group of folks over here. For top down driving where you live you'll be able to drive from April/May to Sept/Oct. Where I live (NC) it's March to May and Sept/Oct to Nov and a sprinkle of winter driving when it is above 50. I'm sure in July if I get up early or drive at night I'll be ok...but in work clothes at 95 degrees the top will have to come up..these things do have great AC!

Enjoy the forum...and yes mods can drain the savings fast, but if you like doing your own work...it's a blast! :D

Looks like a nice ride...welcome!

The 2.7s are fun to drive...I'd like to cruise NE in a Box, but I'm stuck here in N Illinois, where it snowed again last eve, but not as bad as our friends up north. The prior owner did their best to de-amberize...

Might I suggest a set of colored crest caps for your wheels? A little hint of color always looks good with white.

Welcome, and that's a nice looking ride. I live around the Andover MA area so we'll probably see each other.

Hey Cory,
I am from Mass and my 2000 boxster 2.7 tip will be coming out of hibernation next week. Can't wait..going in for some new tires...I luv this time of the season feels like a new car to me every year...
Good Luck with your vehicle and drive it like it's meant to be driven

ddb 03-25-2011 11:02 AM

fab,

I see in your signature that your center console and bumperettes are painted. With a blk/blk car I'm curious to know what color did you paint the center console? Did you paint the bumperettes black to match the car? Didn't like the textured OE finish on them?

Thanks,

ddb

Hi all- Thanks for the warm welcomes! I definitely feel the love :) Cant wait to open this thing up on the curvy roads and head up to the White Mountains for some cruising. I will be sure to post more pics. Car is scheduled to be here by the end of the week!

I used to be an avid Audi owner on multiple sites and loved doing photo shots with my Audis.

The mod bug bit early with my Audis and I easily dumped thousands in to those cars. Im really going to try and resist with the Boxster, but heh- I doubt that will last!

Have fun with a beautifull machine! Whenever I open the top of mine I get a tremendous feeling that life doesn't get much better than this!

cory, used to live in sunapee. wife & i usually return in august to the craftmans' fare at mt. sunapee. august seems like a good time to take the "little black car" for a road trip. i'll keep an eye pen for a "little white car". we both need to wait a few more weeks for top down weather.

Ill definitely keep my eyes peeled for you. Ill have to see if there is a "Spotted" thread on these forums. I know on the Audi sites I was a member of, anytime we spotted another noticeable Audi, we'd post it, and a lot of times it ended up being another member :)

Hi Cory welcome..

Nice looking one for sure. Hope you enjoy it and don't get the dreaded IMS bearing failure that has befallen others.

Not meaning to spoil your fun, you can look into this by using the search in the forum. There are tons of postings about it. I was never aware of the problem until I joined this group. :D

Regards,

J T
