Fuel Guage slow to rise on refuel

Hi this is minor, but I find that when I run down the fuel tank and then refuel, the guage is very slow to register a full tank. It starts to creep up to full over a couple of miles driving. Once it's at the top I can switch off ignition and back on and it jumps right to the full mark. Appears to be showing correct fuel level.
Is this normal?

Garage
Mine does the same thing and if the light comes on and I do not put in at least $25 in gas it will sit on "E" and scare me even though I know there is fuel in there.
