Potential new car with battery problem
The subject is a 1999 Boxster with 54K miles. Has been sitting at a friend of mines repo lot for 4 months. I'm considering purchasing it but he installed a battery and it will not start. His proposal is to bring it to me and see if I can get it started for him.
I'm suspecting some type of aftermarket or oem security system that has disabled the starting circuit. Any suggestions? Is the car turning over or is he getting nothing, i.e., no sign of power in the car? |
Does not turn over at all. Installed a brand new battery. Power is making it to some systems but I'm not sure of specifics. Not sure if he had checked any fuses yet. He's a used car sales man. Not much of a tech. Thats why he is bringing it to me. I'm just not familiar with Porsche specifically but I'm a descent general technician.

I am wondering if this car has a bag ignition switch? The Box is famous for this being defective. You can turn the key but you get nothing. The good news is that they are not very expensive. |
I had forgot about those. Thanks brucelee.
