Smile Leather Gaiter - can anyone help?

Hi guys,
I'm back again looking for help! The leather gaiter on the gear shift of my wife's 1999 Boxster is in dire need of replacing. Obviously the Porsche dealership has told her that she has to buy a whole new unit, this seems very expensive and too much work to me. Can you buy just the leather gaiter and if so, is it hard to fit? I hope one of you can help me/point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance,
Rob.

the shift boot on a 99 has a leather knob, but the boot is vinyl. you can see where it is glued together. buy a newer, one peice leather boot & knob. if you have a 5 speed make sure you get one w 5 speed markings. the 6 speed is identical except the markings for gears. the 6 speed is for the box s and 911. here is one on ebay.

...and don't forget that the replacement boot needs to match the color of your car's interior !

Glad I could help.

Have you taken it to a trim shop to ask them what they'd charge? You might get out for less than $50... you never know.

Garage
I know this is quite an old post, but was searching for the same type and came across an eBay seller that carries these along with eBrake and Arm rest gaiters.

Just thought I would share.
