EVO intake/1st CA smog test coming up...

...do they do a visual inspection of the engine compartment? the reason i'm asking is that i am thinking about doing the evo intake mod. i just called evo and they said that the highflo intake is CARB pending but it will pass the smog test. when inquiring about a visual test evo said that it would pass since, commonly with a boxster, the engine cover is not removed and they just go through the OBDII port (at least that's what they do in AZ).

this being my '98's first time to be smogged i need some advice. should i wait till after the smog test to do the mod wait a couple of yearsfor the next test, replace with the old/stock air box then install evo kit again? where should i go to for the test, some generic smog joint, a porsche tuning place or the dealer?

thx carlos (san jose)
