mobil 1 oil

Which grade should I be using. I have a 2000 Boxster S, with 25k, and live in Connecticut. I don't drive the car in the winter, except to get it out. Also, does anybody know I place for service in the Connecticut area (New Haven). Should I get the 30k service now or wait until next year?

Love the board!!

I have a '99 Boxster with almost 50K on it and use 0W-40 Mobil 1 in it. I think this is the vicosity that most people are using, but someone else may have another take on that.

Mobil 1, 0w-40 is Porsches' recommended oil. It is not easy to find, but I have seen it on-line and at a few local supply houses.

Mobil 1 0W-40

I found Mobil 1 0W-40 locally here in Southern California at AutoZone. I don't know if that is a national chain or not, but if it is, you might check with them.

Mobil One 15W-50, 5W-30, and 10W-30 had been the Mobil brand oils approved by Porsche for many years, along with other brands, such as Castrol. In June 2001 Porsche changed the list. The Mobil One approved is now 0W-40 and 5W-40. I still use 15W-50 as I live in sometimes sunny California. Castrol 5W-50 was and still is an approved oil. With your wide range of temps I would use the Castrol. Jeff
