Wheel size?
 

Just came across a set of 17" wheels fitted with winter rubber.
The car has 19's now.
Are there issues with simply installing 17"s for winter?

I went from 18's to 17's on mine and the ride is awesome. Hopefully it will be even better for you given the diameter difference. Good luck

mention the model year and model of the car when seeking an answer. In this case as fitment over brakes whose sizes differ may be a factor.

'99 base Box.

I believe that 16" or 17" wheels were standard equipment on the '99 Boxster. Therefore, your retrofitting of 17" wheels in place of your 19" wheels should work just fine.

17" will work fine on the '99 (assuming stock brakes).

16" and 17" were standard for '99. The 18" didn't come along until 2000.

Existing wheels are 18", not 19".

Here's the #'s on the wheels being offered me.


- Rim Diameter: 17" Bolt pattern: 5

-- Fronts: width=7"; offset=55
-- Rears: width=8.5"; offset=50

Tires are as follows:
- Dunlap Winter Sport M2 205/50-17 front

- Dunlap Winter Sport M2 255/40-17 rear

As anyone who's read my postings here already knows, I've got a lot to learn.
Educate me please, if you'd be so kind:

What is offset in this context, and how do I determine if there's any conflict with the
(dead stock) '99?

Any issues with those tires?

What's a fair price if it's all in good shape?

As long as the wheel clears your brakes, and you keep the rolling circumfrence the same or reasonably close (by chosing the correct tire size), there is no reason you can't change wheel sizes.

Those wheels should bolt right on with no issues. Value? $600-$1200 depending on condition.
