17 inch Porsche rims on a 1997 Boxster

I have heard that its not a good idea to install larger rims on a 1997 Boxster due to the cars supports not being strong enough.

Can I install 17 inch Boxster rims on my 1997 replacing my 16 inchers??

some guy wants to trade me staright up ...His 17 inch rims for my 16 inch

Just wondering if its a bad idea and may cause issues for me?

Most of these cars are riding on 17" it was an option well exercised. Make sure the wheels you want to acquire are straight and true.

Thats another thing I am nervous about is that the rims I will be getting are bent or something.....I wouldnt know till long after the swap is made and spring is here

I've got a '97 with the 17" option. I would think any reputable tire/wheel shop would inspect the wheels to determine their condition. Probably good insurance to have them inspected.

Anyone running 16s on a 2003 s? mine came with 18s stock. I now have it sitting on 19s. Hate it w the big rims... too heavy. So, i'm thinking the smaller the better, but wouldnt 16s look awkward on an 03? Someone is selling a 16 inch BBS for a decent price. Thinking about it. Any thoughts?

I am going to be taking the 17" from my wife's '07 Cayman and putting them on my '98 Boxster as soon as her new 18" arrive. I have tested them for fitment and everything seemed to fit and ride fine.

I'm also on 17" cayman rims on my '01 base box.

The cayman rears are offset 40 if I recall correctly... It makes the rears look nicer as it's further out...

BUT it makes the front (caymans are also 55 offset) look too far in...

In the end I had spacers put in front to balance out the look... 7mm. Better but not ideal... I think 15mm spacers would be just nice up front but was worried of using too big a spacer...

16" rims won't fit over Box S brake calipers. Stick to 17" or 18" for best combination of weight and tire choices.
