I take it the car is locked when it does this and doesn't do this when it's unlocked, right?

Get your radio code handy, then take the negative terminal off the battery for a half hour or more. This might fix your problem.

It may also be an ignition switch going out, but this is usually the kind of whacky stuff that goes on when the key is in the ignition, not out of it, but I just thought I'd mention it.

If removing the battery terminal for a while doesn't fix the problem, it may be a short in the wiring in the solenoid for one of the door lock mechanisms or the door lock button on the dash. Taking it to a dealer or an indy mechanic with a PST tool can give you the fault code that will help isolate the problem.

Mark, this may sound silly, but with the stupid design of the key (they can design the world's best car, but not the stupid key?), are you sure it's not being activated by change and or other keys in your pocket?
I had my trunk release buttons deactivated because every time I came out from the house, or my shop, the friggin trunks were open. If I kept the key in my pocket, it happened. It was unlocked a couple of times, too, but I can't deactivate that, so I no longer keep the key in my pocket. Since it is not on my key chain, I don't worry about locking myself out of buildings.

Boxster unlocking itself

Hi

Thanks for the reply's I have disconnected the battery for half an hour and we will wait and see how that goes.
As for the keys in pocket idea I thought it could have been that myself but today the key was on my desk and could not have been pressed in my pocket.

Thanks for all advise

Mark

Yeah, I'm constantly opening/ unlocking with that damn key in my pocket!

I think I have the same issue. I have found my car battery to be flat sometimes after leaving the car not ran for 3 or 4 days and I believe it is due to the car locking and unlocking itself over and over. I believe the issue is in the wiring inside the door, will let you know if I solve it!
