Back issues of Excellence and story about a cheap key remote fix

I bought my first copy of Excellence yesterday and I was looking at their ad for back issues. The ad says the July 2010 issue has a story about a cheap fix for problems with the remote locking system in the key. I have only one functioning remote and if there's a cheap fix that will get the other one working I'd like to know about it.

Maybe somebody who has that month's issue could briefly describe what they're talking about. I'm willing to buy the back issue if it comes to that but if there's a known easy fix that would be cool.

If it's the issue I'm thinking of, it basically detailed going to Radio Shack or an online electronic supplier to buy new momentary switches for the circuit board, then solder them in place of the originals. If you still have the other remote and it's just the buttons that don't work (i.e it will still start the car) this may be your fix. If you're good w/ a micro soldering gun, you can most likely just remove the bad ones and take them with you looking for new ones (I think p/n / descriptions were listed in the article)

I'd send you a scan copy but I toss the mag when finished, sorry. It's generally a good read and worth the subscription price ($50 IIRC).

:)
