02boxster 2 or 03 boxster
two cars: 03 boxster at a dealer (mercedes) 13kmiles,asking$19,8(says reduced) or a 02 boxster 2 at a dealer(kia) 20kmiles ,asking $21k...is there a strong preference for one or the other for non-track,everyday type driving? edmund tmv price is much lower than kelly or nada...those are more than but closer to the dealer prices. is there any rational to pricing these things??

my mistake should read 02 boxster s or 03 boxster
|
Where are you located?
Those prices are very high compared to what we have in South Florida. I have recently PPI'd half a dozen Boxsters and Ss and the highest was $17K for an '04S. Check this market. Happy Boxstering, Pedro |
03 had many changes from 02.
You should search and read about them. ie. rear glass, glove compartment, more horsepower etc I would try to find a 03-04S but given your choice below I would go for the 03. |
Gosh it bites being in NC where the prices for an 'S' are high, if I could have found a local 04 'S' for 17k I would taken the car and ran so fast home with it. I should probaby just sell my 00 'S' at a lose and head to south fl. :(

When it comes right down to it, the real differences between any S model between '00 and '04 are really quite small. Aside from the glass rear window on the '03 and up, which is perhaps the best and only differentiating feature, the rest is negligible. What you should be focussing on, is finding a vehicle that has a clear history of being well maintained and cared for .

The glove box on the 03-04 is pretty. ;)
Plus where else would you hide the handgun? |
Glass rear window is a plus if this is driven daily, as stated; otherwise, irrelevant if a weekend car. Slightly different styling cues '02 to '03, but not enough to push me over the edge. Maintenance records and overall condition far more important, as previously pointed out.
Of course, I'm partial to my S and wouldn't have considered anything less. Hell of alot of car, for under 20k...Toyota and Honda territory. Makes me very sad that Box prices have plummeted the way they have; none of my 911s nosedived the way this has, but I don't plan on selling anytime soon. |
