Another RMS story

Just some food for thought for everyone. I purchased a used 2001 Boxster about 8-weeks ago. Right after I brought it home I noticed the signs of a RMS issue ( small drops of oil in the middle of the engine) So I had it looked at by two independant Mech's each told me it was the RMS. One mech gave me a quote of 1050 the other 800.00.

After thinking about it over the week end I got the idea to call the two Porsche stealership's here in Houston to see if it had any kinda service history. As my luck would have it the RMS was replaced on 05/24/04 at 47k.
My car now has 55352k So I inquired about what kinda warranty might be left and was given the sad story, no their is no warranty left!!!!!

Well sometimes if you ******************** and scream enough (I learned this from my wife) You can get things!!!!! I ended up getting the RMS replaced for 383.00 along with a two year warranty and unlimited Miles.

You would have thought (the trouble with assumptions) that failure of same within less than one year; the shop would have been obligated to re-do it, no?! ...and it's not as if the problem has never been hear of?

It's now like you're 'in remission'.... Park in on the grass from now on.

Repairs are usually guaranteed for one year. Look on the receipt. Sounds like you might be just a hair over one year? That would suck. But if the repair was done by a Porsche dealership, I would call up Porsche and demand a free replacement. You shouldn't be replacing the RMS more often than wipers.
