2001 Boxster S

I test drove 2001 Boxster S 35k miles triple black. The car "feel" solid and clean but what do I know.I have appointment PPI tomorrow.price $15500 will try after PPI for $15000.I think it's not a steal but it's a fair price and I like the color. What's do you guys think?

I'm not sure how the market is at your location but with this economy, if $15.5k is the asking price, I'd start at $13. JMHO

Agreed

I was able to negotiate several $K under asking price for my 2002 S 3 months ago.

They were asking $17500.I will wait for PPI result tomorrow and use it to get the price down.

IMHO the price is reasonable given the economy, time of year, your location, etc.

What would make it a great or mediocre price would be the condition and the options. If it's anything less than totally clean mechanically then just walk away, no matter the price. And if it has a replaced top - with a glass window for instance - or full leather, or a (nice) replacement stereo, or Carrera wheels, or a hardtop, or...well, some other nice set of options, then it could be a very good deal.

The S will fetch a better price because it will have more options than the base. The S suspension is better than the base. My S here in my email was a $70K car in 2000. You can see how it came equipped by reading below the picture. I paid $15,700 for mine. Good clean S P-cars will fetch a little higher price than the base.

ART - I bought my 2001 at about the same mileage as yours, and there will be a few thing that will need to be checked or replaced that the PPI may not show up.
As I bought mine from an OPC, they had to replace the AOS, drive shaft rubber boots & MAF under their warranty programme.
Over the next year or so, I've replaced the front brake rotors, brake pads all round, brake fluid, coolant, fuel filter and spark plugs + routine maintenance.
If you can do these yourself, you can save a bundle - if you can't, put some $$ aside for them. I usually allow 10% of the purchase price to bring the car up to scratch.....

How many miles when you bought it.The car is beautiful/

Seems like a pretty good price to me. I'm looking for an S as well and found and 03 S for $22K, an 02 for $19K and an 05 for $28K.

Let me know how you make out.

John

62,000 miles on it and a one owner car. I had to do the 60K maintenance...not hard at all. I replaced the tires and I replaced the rotors on all 4 with new pads and just completed the TIP maintenance. I think I have spent about $1300...the tires where $700. By the way...this is the car that I was looking for, color and interior which is hard to find, so when you find the one you may have to pay a little more.
