In my opinion, there is no such magic.. :)

you may as well bring it yourself on a Dyno and piggy-back the mapping :)

in the auto world these are called "canned tuna " a company will rewrite the fuel and timing tables and sell a fit all version. most US handheld ones can double as a code reader and adjust a whole lot of things eg: rpm/top speed limits, shift parameters [auto trans] just to name a few but they cost half what the po version does. i would check with the company and see what it can/cannot do,if its guarranted. check with people that use it [i dont have it but i believe its popular] fyi...a company years ago had one for GM cars and they had to add extra phone lines for customer help. it was called a preditor...i called it a deadator

Softronic is owned by Scott Slauson, long time contributor to several Porsche related publications, as well as being well known in Porsche circles. Of all the remapping software out there, I would suspect his is probably the most realistic in its performance potential. That said, all software of this type really only max the output under certain conditions (e.g.: headers, intake mods, exhaust, etc.), so you may or may not realize the total potential unless your car is already ten tenth’s on the modifications. If your car is still under a warranty, you should also be aware that Porsche’s PIWIS system can detect these software updates and will void your warranty…….

look over at Planet 9 where you can find better information about Softronic and do a search.
I'd say 80% of all posts there are positive
