Key problem - red lights stays on and won't operate door
 

I purchased a 2002 base Boxster with stick from the original owner about 10 days ago. She never used the extra "powered" key. The "powered" key she used and that I have been using operated fine until last night. Now, the LED stays on and the key no longer operates the doors nor the trunks. I tried a new battery on the theory that was cheap and easy. It still doesn't work. The other key works fine as does the key without the circuit board and battery in it.

The micro switches (all 3) on the circuit board audibly click.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Are you absolutely certain that none of the little microswitches beneath the little rubber pads are stuck down?

The LED staying on continuously is usually a sign that one of the switches is stuck. Maybe try a shot of electrical cleaner spray aimed directly at the switch to se if there might be some dirt under there that might get flushed away.

They all click. I tried your suggestion anyway - I like simple solutions. Unfortunately, the symptom remains. Thanks for the idea.
