“A Boxster with a four-cylinder engine, or maybe even a three-cylinder turbo, could produce between 180bhp and 200bhp and emit just 180g/km of CO2,” said [ Boxster model line director Hans-Jurgen ] Wohler. “Given the Boxster’s history — that it started with a 200bhp, 2.5-litre engine — I think this is possibly something that customers could accept.

the car mags have all been talking about a "baby boxster"... I wonder if Porsche will make a whole "new" boxster line/body style..or if they will simply create THREE variants of the boxster...

they can keep the "S" and "base" model with 6 cyl engines and create a new "lower" line wiht a 4banger and less luxury stuff....

dunno if the "cheap" one will look the same...I would think it would look simlar but be "Just" enough different that "s" and "base" buyers will feel like their cars stands out as "better" than the cheap one....

just like the boxster increased Porsches volume when it first cam eout - maybe this "baby boxster" will be cheap enough and sell in great enough numbers that Porsche will generate more money / increase volume even more and perhaps bring new customers into the dealership that had not come in before.... depens on pricing...

Last I read VW wants to go back to the old plan for a VW/Audi/Porsche shared body with the Porsche version now being called 356 vs 914.

i hope they do the flat 4 turbo banger 2.0 or 2.5 . it would be great if power was between 250-300 h.p. with that great turbo torque ! Gives me thoughts of Sti's and Evo's . 914 or 356 name plate would be cool too.

Ha, imagine the surprise on baby boxster buyers when they bring their cars in and see the dealership prices!

I, for one, wouldn't complain about getting some more turbo diesels and such in the line up. I'd really like to see them bring the diesel cayenne over here.

I thought they were going to do a "baby Boxster" code named 356 with a turbo
4-flat cylinder.

Then, continue with the 987, replacement code mane 981 which is the new code name that may move up-market using the basic chassis of the 991 which is the replacement 2011 911.

Why is the guy wearing a helmet? Could it be that the Stig moonlights for Porsche?
