Warranty extension

My Boxster has 2 years Porsche warranty
I have heard that you can add a further year, without going thru the 101 check/associated cost if you do it whilst there is still 1 year of the original warranty remaining
Does anybody have any knowledge of this

and their warranty is very different from those in the US.
