Just added a Painted Console - Photo Included

I special ordered my '01 Boxster S and hand picked what was important me to me at the time. In doing so I missed some things that I am adding now. I put red seat belts into it a few weeks ago and just added a painted console.

What is interesting is the center console would have been $715 if I ordered it with the car. Doing it now was $255 after selling my stock one ($350 - $95).

That looks superb. I have been wondering exactly what this would look like in my guards-on-black 2.5, and you have provided the answer. Wonderful. IS that $350 price buying the painted console from Porsche? Seems hard to believe! I was considering painting my own console, but if that's the price...

I bought it from this vendor, only direct and not through eBay;

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-04-PORSCHE-986-BOXSTER-CARRARA-WHITE-CENTER-CONSOLE-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3359be4385QQitemZ22054 8973445QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccesso ries

His direct email is trieullionaire@gmail. He charged me $350 delivered. The paint was perfect. He only uses new OEM consoles. His support is top notch. You have to remove all of the pieces from your console and transfer them to the new painted one. Not that hard.

Hehe, Great minds:

The console was stock (the lid is about to get re-trimmed) and I had my belts custom made.

The color is a nice touch...my car is black, so it matched already!

Does anyone have a picture of a white one? I've never seen how that would look, I've seen it around the roll bar but not the console.

Ah, but it's gloss black I assume. A gloss black console might look quite sexy in there...

Kyleturner2020 has a painted white console. I think they look great. I've seen others but can't find the pictures now.

Thank you.. I'm not seeing it though.. There is this specialty custom shop on the beach in LA. When I had idiot money, I sent my intake vents out there to be black chromed, I really like the effect. I'm sure the console would be mad money to have the guy do but it would look cool, I guess at that price might as well go carbon fiber.

I reckon a white console would look awesome. I'm also very sure it would do more to lift the 986 cabin, which let's face it is one of the car's weaker areas, more than a carbon console which is nice enough but is a pretty subtle change from black.

Very nice. I have the Tequipment (carbon) shifter too. Those two upgrades are pricey but instantly kill the no-frills look and just like that you have the same interior that was available on a $100K Carrera Turbo. A set of the $100 aftermarket pedals you often see on Fleabay and you're off to the races.
I'm considering wrapping the upper console in leather so that there's not much bare black plastic. I'd also like to add the AVIC Nav system to give it modern look. But that will be after a new suspension and possibly new wheels.

Seriously considering doing this now. Think the best way is to buy a console and have it painted locally. I assume the 996 console is the same part? Also, was there any change over the years, or is there just one console part and I don't need to worry about getting the right one?

Thanks

no doubt about it, I'm sure I could get one shot less than 300
