987 cdr24 instrument display

i want to replace the cdr24 in my "06"

what drives the on dash display from the stereo to provide the station/song/ cd info?

is this feature lost when i toss the decrepit factory stereo? :barf: anyone who has replaced their stereo in a 987 please chime in

Great Question.. I think the CDR-24 is all MOST Optic Fiber with the Amp, etc.. (and probably to the instrument cluster too), I heard any modification to a component need to be programmed at the dealer..

I think you'll have alot of trouble to just to change the Head Unit without changing the Amp and All, and I would be surprise if you could still feed the instrument cluster info Display..

But I'm not very informed about the CDR-24 modification, I spend more time on the CDR-220..

Good luck in your project/search, let us know because it's a very interesting question!! :)

dump the bus

my plan was to just pull the entire most bus. and run the speakers of the new HU...

so the is there a signal wire to the das direct from the cdr24 or is it provided buy some other component in the system? would like to keep the info in the dash display, (not at all costs)

You may try to take a look in Wiring Diagram to see what's the link between the Radio and the Cluster..
