hey - i need some black carpet to match that in my boxster. anyone know of a source for something similar but not oem so that i don't have to pay the 'tax'?

Try the dismantlers for gently used carpets.

I have a full 996 black interior carpet set. It wouldn't help on the back wall or top of engine, only the floor

i've done a roof delete (zeintop) and want to carpet back there, so i figure i need it in bulk (as opposed to pre-shaped); i was wondering if porsche uses standard stuff that i could buy anywhere, or if i have to buy karpetschlingercoverdorffer brand for 200% markup just so that it can match the drapes.

Check with a local auto upholstery shop and see what they recommend.
