What kind of body kit it is? looks great

I accidentally ran into a picture of this boxster.
looks crazy at first with 3 wings and 3 exhasut outlets, but it grew on me specially after I saw its front bumper.
Does anybody have more pictures or info on this car?

Looks good as a complete package, specially after seing a 997.2 GT3RS in person

Woah! It looks like a cobra from the front!

That guy is a board member. If you do a search for GT3 wing, I think you'll find him.

Not a fan of the triplane setup myself, but the front bumper looks good.

Stroked & Blown 10-08-2010 05:09 AM

This is his thread. Looks like his images aren't showing up anymore: http://986forum.com/forums/diy-project-guides/19380-boxster-s-gt3rs-deck-spoiler.html

Haha. it does look like a cobra.
Thanks for the link.

I think if you try really HARD you might be able to fit a 4th rear wing somewhere :D

The front bumper is a GT3 mark II, the 3 wings are too much for my taste

Overdrive 10-10-2010 02:07 PM

Yes, I agree with the front looking nice...not too hard to do when that part of the car is the same as the 911, but that looks just fine.

Now the three wings out back and the (hopefully but doubtfully functional) vents sitting up on the trunk lid blocking the brake light...not liking that so much. I like things that have more function than form, personally, and I have to imagine all that spoiler out back has to kill one's rear view.

wow, looks like he had the same idea that I had.

Adding one more wing on that thing it's going to take off! :D

We used to call that all show no go.

I tend to keep lots of pictures of Boxsters, so I have some from the original post about this car. Here they are for your viewing pleasure:

What are those black things on the third brake light? One of the pics shows blacked out A-pillars, interesting look. I don't like it but interesting.

Great Shot...I'm considering the graphics on doors. I'm also missing the cap for the tow hook, an actual tow hook my be nifty.

Like I mentioned earlier, JTP, I think those are just fake vents.

al83s 10-11-2010 11:02 PM

Agreed, those vents have to go. I like the middle spoiler on the first car, the one that looks like a duck tale.
Would be great if somebody made a FG trunk lid that incorporated a functioning one of those and saved some weight in the process.

PS, that Rennzenn 986 looks great, very purpose built and not over the top.

Ah, I missed your earlier post. My vision was obscured by all the clutter on that trunklid.

If you check the link that Stroked & Blown posted the OP states that

"Those two vents on my trunk has two soft pipes under it and goes into my engine base"

So not fake vents at all.

j.fro 10-12-2010 04:26 AM

Fyi

Just a bit of info about the RennZenn car, the front vents are functional. I've sealed up the the floorpan of the bumper cover and added some sheet metal behind the center radiator to exhaust all of the incoming air out over the top. I haven't had the car out on the track to determine if I'm getting real front-end downforce, but I did notice that the temps drop when the car gets going.
Also, the rear trunklid/wing assembly contributed to a significant weight loss. The lid itself is fiberglass, and I was able to remove all of the original spoiler and it's motor. It's not light! Without the hardtop (the soft top and all of it's mechanicals are gone, too) the car is right at 2900 pounds.

Crazy kit, beauty is in the eye of the driver. Good for them!!

It would be interesting to see if those soft pipes and the vents actually pull out any hot air. There is a low pressure area behind the rear window but given the size of those vents and orientation they don't look very effective.

But without actually seeing the car in person it's really difficult to tell.

j.fro, if you're tracking the car without any top on it, perhaps a vented/louvered/ or wire meshed engine cover would work well rather than those deck vents?
