Agree.

But it's partly because the 996/997 series are so much larger than the previous series. In fact, the 996 is fully 25% larger than my 964 - that's a lot. It has in fact become mid-sized.

The 964 is actually quite small (even compared to the Boxster, which now seems gargantuous) and sorta like the austin mini, it's bigger on the inside than on the outside.

Agree on the size, my friend told me that my 986 was larger than his 928 and I said no way. I pulled up next to him and I was shocked how big mine was to his...I always thought the 928 was huge. (No jokes please )

I agree with the proportion comments...looks too large and humpy for my taste. A friend had one of the 964 speedsters; I could never warm up to it...the '89s were downright goofy looking.

The Boxster is the best looking drop top Porsche produces, hands down.

There are 20 different 911s for sale right now.

VW aren't kidding when they said they want to double (triple?) Porsche's sales figures in the next 5-10 years.

Too much $$$ for what you get. 200k+...come on? That's way more than a turbo s cab and you cannot even get the colors you want.

with only 356 being made, and only 100 coming to the US they're pretty much guaranteed to sell each one probably before a single on to a shipping dock.

while i'm not a big fan of the humpy area, i have to admit i love the wider rear end - one of the few things i really like about the 911s.

Oh, I know...they will all sell to collectors and such, just like the '89 models did. I just think the pricing is out of whack....

They'll be oddities and curiousities, just like the '89 Speedsters were.

The 964 based cars tend to sell for a premium and most have lower miles, but as many 2nd and 3rd owners are finding out, while driveline parts are plentiful (they're just 964's under the skin), variant-specific parts such as windshields, tops and speedster humps are virtually impossible to replace as these were pretty much NLA as of the mid-90's, and Porsche never made a large warehouse supply to begin with.

They're museum pieces, not real cars to be driven. The new models won't be any different.

I too love the wide rear of a 911, that's why I got a C4S over a C2 was for the wider rear. To me the wide body 911 has got a nice looking rear, kinda how J-Lo's rear looks good a little wide. Now as for the 911 cabs though, the rears just look to lumpy and bulbous to me. More like a bloated, obese woman's butt, definitely not J-Lo refinded. I've never liked the looks of the 911 cabs based on this. I was excited about this news on the 911 Speedster until I saw the photos... It looks even worse than a regular cab!

Don't knock it. PDK is FAST! Have you see how fast the new 911 Turbo is with PDK? Read the latest Motor Trend and you'll see that even the manual transmission Turbo is one of the fastest cars they've ever tested. One of my PCA buddies has a 996 Turbo X-51 and he drove last year's turbo with the PDK and was really quite smitten with it, almost to the point of giving up his current wonderful ride. I've purposefully avoided driving one so as to maintain my meager bank account!

Not a fan of the design at all. Frankly, the back end looks like an old man in diapers with a fresh "load" onboard. For future endeavors, it would be refreshing to see Porsche revisit the styling of the 993.

If I were interested in drag times or lap times, I'd definitely be impressed with PDK. I'm driving my sports cars for the enjoyment of driving. To me that requires three pedals.

I've driven Ferrari's F1 transmission and once the novelty of the paddles wears off, you're driving an automatic. No thanks.

Nobody said PDK is slow, it takes away driver's involvement in... well... driving.
