Check engine light just came on...

Hi everyone,

My check engine light came on this afternoon on my '02 porsche boxster (78k). I was curious to know what were common problems that caused that light and how much it would cost me to get that checked at a porsche dealer (I live in Miami, if you know a good but cheap place to go to, let me know). Thanks for your help!

CELs are EFI and engine errors only and can be read by any OBDII reader, go to your corner autoparts store and have them read the code for you, it is free.

The list is hundreds of codes long

and the diagnostic manuals many hundred pages.

You can by a "OBDII code reader" (Actron common brand) and read em yourself, borrow a code reader from an auto parts store, go to a mechanic or a dealer. Once you know the code post it and we'll tell you what it probably is caused by.
