2009 Boxster S AC system

Gents,

1. Regarding 2009 Boxster S AC system, is it engine driven or electrical driven? I mean is the compressor still driven by the engine or is it separate?

2. If you can advice, can I speed while its turned on? Or will it harm the engine with time?

regards

I have no specific knowledge of an '09 box,
but I would bet $50 that is is the same as the rest of the 986/996/987/997 options:
The compressor is driven off the engine,
as all of your other accessories: PS pump, Alt, etc...
but also requires electricity to engage the clutch.

In other words, it requires rotational input from the engine,
with electrical input to operate.

Also, I know in 1997,
they had a full throttle shut off,
which turns off the AC compressor at max throttle.

In other words,
Dont worry about it.
It is a 2009 car, they have everything pretty well figured out by now,
and you should have no lack of confidence in the engineering of your car.

The thing you are most likely to do to shorten its life is drive it like a honda.
Drive the crap out of these things, and they will reward you.
