Important Questionaire

Over at PPBB, there is a guy who is conducting a relatively detailed survey on boxster owners about their RMS or NON RMs problems. He is compiling data to see if their is a pattern associated with RMS and such. HEre is the link, the more people he gets to fill out the questionaire, the more accurate the answers will be

I don't know what this guy's statistical model is nor do I care. Predicting what could happen can just lead to widespread panic or the opposite. What we need are facts.

I don't know why websites are seem scared to touch this issue. It wouldn't be that hard to set something up to track engine issues. I would just skip the BS and get a site going where people with RMS, ISS and engine failures can register their experience, vin #, etc. That way, there will be cold hard numbers. Predicting a failure means nothing to me. I just want to know that Porsche will stand behind their product if there is widespread failures.

Much like BMW's E46 M3 engine grenading, BMW originally tried to blame the owners but have now given them 6 years/100K mile warranties. Since Porsche knows that this is an issue, I'd like to see them offer the same type of warranty if there is indeed widespread failure. I understand that sometimes Porsche picks up the tab for cars out of warranty but the word sometimes does not sit well with me.

And since these cars are getting into people's hands in the used car market, these issues can negatively affect resale value. Again, look at how BMW has calmed the fears of the engine with offering an exceptional warranty.
