997 Targa 4S Does anyone have any experience with the 997 Targa 4S, I am awestruck with the looks and the 3.8l engine doesn't hurt too much either. I really like the airy open feel of the glass and the electric top seems to be perfect for those two months a year that the top needs to be open. I have never actually seen one in person but the pictures look very intriguing. Comments welcome |

The Targas are nice, but personally I don't care for them because its like the unneeded hybrid between a coupe and a convertible. It is heavier than both the coupe and the convertible without the full benefits of either model. I'm just a convertible person so the Targa doesn't appeal to me, I need the real thing. On that note, if your looking at buying one, are you going to keep the 3.6 box or put it up for grabs? Because I would be interested.... |

Thanks for the offer but I was day dreaming. I have an 03 Range Rover and my wife and I each have a Boxster. The Range Rover is the only car we can put the whole family in. Having a three seater would be a nice thing but I think trading the Rangie for a Cayenne makes more sense than simply having a Boxster and a Targa. Of course having a Boxster, a Targa and a Cayenne, now that has a nice ring to it. I guess I better buy some lottery tickets this week. |

Targa retains the shape of a 911 without the interrupted lines from the back of a cab... The rear hatch opens nicely for groceries, etc. It's a sacrifice, but I look at them whenever I see one since they're rare. |

That is what I like is how smooth the body shape is. It is the first 911 that didn't scream for a rear spoiler. It is like an elegant version of the 997. I also like the extra hips that it has. I think the glass top is perfect, not a ragtop and not a hardtop but open and light over your head. |
