hope anyone of u out there have try this ,i need help with my 97 boxster ,here is the question ,originally i was going for a 18"wheel and low down the car for 1",but that dosen't seem to happen at all ,everyway i read atical 97 boxster is not recommen with 18" wheel ,that really put boxster to shame ,so i am thinking if i stick with my plan A original 17"turbo look front 7.5 & real 8.5 ,what is the best combination with the H&R wheel spacer sizes?picture will help alot ,if anyone out there has done it before ,thank's

You are correct that the 18 wheel on a 97 Box is a no go. Porsche specifically states that this wheel will bend components of the suspension for that model year. So, wise choice to lay off the 18s.

Since the 17s were an option on the Box, I am not sure that you need spacers if you stick with one of the wheels that was available from Porsche for that car.

I have a set of 18" Turbo 1 wheels off of a 996. I can check for if these would fit on your car if you would like. They are listed for sale in the classified section here.

The official word is no, but there are 1997s with 18" wheels. There is even a 1997 guy on rennlist with a 3.4 conversion and 18".

well say guy ,but what i like to know what is the right combination with my turbo wheel and the spacer that will not stick out from the fender

As far as I know:

Porsche turbo look only comes in 18".

Boxster turbo look does not require a spacer.

It does not come in 8.5". On the Boxster the rear is is 9". On the 996 it is 10". The Boxster and 996 offsets are different.

hum.... now you guys got me worry, I have 97 with 18in carrera, the car has about 26000 miles, and so far so good. I just had HR 18mm spacer put in, and it looks good. Should I be worry about bending the component??

And as the spacer was installed, also found my rear tires are worn out, went to discount tires and put a deposit down on michellin pliot for 288 a piece, the tires were not in stock had to order them from the werehouse. Should I look else where for better pricing and tires or should i just go with the discount tires and the michellin?

Do you drive on cobble stone roads? Read the links I posted and decide for yourself. This 1" debate has been going on for years, and you are not the only one with 18" wheels on a 1997.

Porsche never approved 19" wheels for the 986, but there are 986 owners with 19" wheels.

One of these days I will get a 97 and 98 on the rack and see what, if anything, is different.

The rennlist guy with the 3.4 conversion has 100 hp more than his 1997 2.5. In my mind that ends the subject.
