Porsche - New CEO

porsche announced today that matthias muller the head of planning and management for VW will take over as CEO of porsche in october.
vw group plans to become the world's largest carmaker by profits and by deliveries by the year 2018...

Mr. Wells (a talking head from cardiff university) said Porsche could benefit from Volkswagen’s resources to design vehicles that are more fuel efficient, and slightly more affordable, to appeal to a younger customer base and respond to changes in the market.

“Mueller is extremely well connected within the VW group”

Mueller, who is a close confidant of Volkswagen Chief Executive Martin Winterkorn from their shared time at Audi, knows about the product plans at Volkswagen and Audi AG (NSU.XE), which will benefit the integration process of Porsche into Volkswagen.

Winterkorn is pushing for the construction of smaller Porsche cars that could be built using existing VW technology. Porsche, however, fears that could damage the brand.

"One must lead Porsche very sensibly," he said...

Martin Winterkorn, VW’s chief executive, confirmed on Tuesday night that Porsche was considering a fifth model...

He did not name a specific model, but people close to the carmaker said Porsche was pondering a smaller version of its best-selling Cayenne sport utility vehicle.

“We want to look for ways how to better move forward Porsche in new markets such as China ... There is a lot of potential for the brand in China," Winterkorn said.
