Headache from driving w/ top down

My 987 will come in about a month. I heard that you can get headache from driving with top down in highway speed for a long time. Any truth in that? Any experience?

during the summers I have driven on the highway, with the top down quite cfrequently, but have yet to experience that....

Thats definatly a myth. A Boxster has such a serene and calm cabin.

When I drive on the freeway with the top down and windows down, the wind beats me left and right, especially if there's a breeze in the air. Raising both the side windows goes a long way toward making the experience less turbulent and quiet while enjoying that open top sensation.

I have both the center wind deflector and the roll bar inserts, yet I still find the cabin turbulent on the freeway at 80 mph. And yes, sometimes it bugs me so that I slow down or pull over and put the top up. My wife has to be in the right mood to drive with the top down on the freeway for long periods of time. She says the wind and noise is annoying at times.

This is part of the fun of owning a convertible though... hearing road noise, tolerating the wind in one's hair, having to crank up the stereo to keep up with the racket the semi is creating next to you... you'll see! It's all good.

congratulations, I went down to Ray Catena Porsche last weekend to pick up a part and this guy was blowing the doors off a red and tan 987 during a TEST DRIVE!.
I was merging onto the highway when he blitzed past with the biggest grin, no actually he was laughing. I caught up to him just as we ahem... reached the speed limit. Very late braking into this jug handle turn and he acelerated quickly back on to the highway. Very impressive this new Boxster (although I still detest the headlights)
Well I guess this thing as the S model because it was LOUD.

Ripping this car at 6,000 RPM for an hour might give you a headache. Either from the noise or when you get to the pump!

Mine never gives me a headache, but I'm 6'2" and my forehead does get numb after awhile of the wind beating on it.

i drive on highways and never get a headache, but on freeways in town with rushing traffic, you better bring some asprin. it's the noise from other cars as you pass them. so truthfully it doesn't bother me unless there's alot of cars that you pass.

but it's a blast to drive. at alittle above the speed limit with the top down.

That's my biggest problem, I enjoy driving it so much that I seem to forget that there are any speed limits. I must average 85 - 90 on the highway. My driver's license is becoming nervous.

A bad sales day, stock market dropped 20 points, an argument with the wife, dealing with the DMV, all these may give you a headache......as soon I slide behind "runt's " steering wheel and pull away as my top slides down all those nuances just melt and blow away with the wind.....rushing by at around 90mph.

I drive the Rte 15 from LV to SD once a month. Six hours with the top down at highway speed gets to you after a while; its not just the wind, but the trucks and other traffic. My solution? ear plugs. With ear plugs (and windows up if it is windy) I truly enjoy the ride. For short rides and commute, you would not need them.

If you are driving on a typical freeway with your top down, the road noise is pretty severe, could generate a headache for sure.

On other roads, not an issue.

This is a convertible issue, not a Boxster issue.
