How do I remove the top cubby?

I want to install a new stereo head unit in the top cubby hole in the center console and install an aftermarket cup holder I bought off Ebay in the existing DIN space where the factory radio exists now.

Can anyone tell me how to remove that cubby hole pocket without damaging anything? Pix would be very helpful, so if you know of a website or thread on another forum, do post it!

Thanx!

It is a friction fit and just pulls out.

Thanks Jeff! I knew you'd have the answer AND a photo to show it!

If I need to remove the side panels to put in some screws for some reason, how do I remove them?

Toolpants,
have you removed the plastic backing on the roll bars?
You know for painting :)

I'm having some side skirting painted soon and I'd like to have them do the back of the roll bars too.

What is this. Take apart your car day.

Grab the rear edge of the side panel and pull it away.

Rollbar padding you can pull straight off if you have strong fingers. I have a plastic wedge tool used to remove trim and I just shove it in between the back of the padding and the bar.

Thanks, TP!

I have to replace one of the plastic windstop brackets that is mounted on the rollbar, and was wondering how to get the padding off of the bars. Hopefully the rivet holding the bracket on is an easy to find size, and drills out OK.

That was a timely post/pic for me.

Now you want to take a drill to your car.
