check out what I saw on the track yesterday

Had a great trackday in Thunderhill yesterday with NCRC
And had my first Boxster Spyder sighting.
Looks really nice "in the flesh"
The guy who was driving it bought it as a pure "track toy", his laptimes were about 5 seconds faster than mine
Nice to see that people buy it to use them what they were meant for.

Passed one on my favorite twisties yesterday…the guy wasn’t driving it like it was made to be. Looked a little strange for a 987 from behind…didn’t have time to gander much though at the side…or frnt in the rear view. So that’s it eh.

Was he required to run with the top on? Just curious...

No,

he only put the top up during sessions as a sun shade.
As a matter of fact the Spyder top is only certified by Porsche for speeds up to 125 mph, and that's about the speed you reach at the end of the main straight in Thunderhill so he better run with the top down...

Saw one of those on Geary St. in San Francisco last week. Really looks good in person.

I was bummed when I right after I bought my F355 spider I figured out that I can't run it at Thunder Hill because it has no roll bars, and there really isn't a way to add them. Could take the Boxster out instead.

I just got back from Stuttgart and saw several of these. There was one in front of the Porsche Museum and several being built on the floor of the factory. It looks much better in person. Unfortunately I didn't get to hear one at speed.

Thanks for sharing!

That looks better in the pic than it did when I saw it up close at the NY Auto show!

White is definitely the way to go with that one.
Some guy got his whiny complaint printed in this month's Excellence
"Big deal you saved some weight"
duh...that's the whole point.
Of course no mention that Spyder beats the Cayman S from lap one, BEFORE any mods and WITHOUT PDK. Lots of room for improvement there.
