I bought the Zaino clear plastic cleaner and it did a great job! Really cleaned it up. And for being 5 years old looks almost as good as the day I got it.

Dont remember the price but remember it being reasonable. I would recommend all of their products. Especially their wax and inbetween car wash detail spray.

Jfmillr, nice car. I'll be adding that front bumper at some point. My GT3 side sideskirts and Carrera 5 spokes are on the way. :)

as for the plastic window,

this is my second car with a clear plastic window and I have tried just about every product available. After much experimenting here's what I recommend.

two products:

Renovo plastic window polish for getting out scratches. Its applied with a foam pad and polished off with an old t-shirt. If you have allot scratching,crease marks, etc. use an orbital polisher with a foam pad. The results with buffer are amazing and fast. If you don't have Porter Cable 7424 polisher try going to your local car wash/detail shop and give them the Renovo and maybe they'll buff your window for you. Low speed setting with light pressure.

Once you have removed the scratches with Renovo. Keep it clear with Plexus.
I use this once a week on the window and windstop. It also works really well on the headlights, tailights and my helmets. Also use the Plexus with an old t-shirt.
Plexus is the best product availble even if it smells funny.

I don't recommend using cotton terry cloth or microfiber with either of these products on clear plastic. If you don't want to use or can't find a t-shirt, Try using materials with tufted loop ends like Sonus waffle weave towels. Avoild anything with a spilt end, over time it will scratch.

Also avoid getting any soap or detergent on the top when washing the window or the car itself. I don't recommend detergents on the clear platic either, some are very powerful and can strip the laminate coating from the plastic. Just use a wet towel in a swiping motion left to right, flip the towel with each pass. The Plexus will remove any stain or debris.

Does the Renovo work better than Meguiars?

I have a lot of scratches from the previous owner.

I seldom see it in the auto supply stores, but there's a lot of plastic windows built into cabin covers on boats...

Is it possible to "retro fit" the plastic window in the older model Boxsters with the new glass if I were to completely replace the top? Anybody know or have done that?

The 2003 and on top will not fit the older models. The redo costs over $5000 according to my dealer and requires new frame, motor top etc.

The plastic window can be replaced for about $300 at some top shops.

Renovo is the best product for removing swirls and scratches on clear plastic. Well actually I don't think it removes it so mucha as it rounds the edges of the scratches so that light doesn't reflect off the hard edge. I think it helps to polish at night with headlights from another car directly behind. If you can use it with a an electric screwdriver and foam pad wheel you'll make a big improvement.

I think only Autogeek.net carries it.
All of the pro detailing sites carry Plexus. Hard to find localy.

I thought an overseas company(Australia) was getting ready to release a Boxster hardtop with glass window for 1997-2002 Boxsters?

guese what i got the plexus from local canadian tire shop ,try this evening and clean it ,one big word's LOVE it ,i can't believe it when so well nice and clean ,thank's a lot for the info guy

Having owned several converts. (including a 356 Cab. for 26 yrs) I have found that if you wet wipe (paper towel, H2O, ok) and PAT dry with a paper towel (or other if you wish, but you can always find paper and even with paper if you PAT it, it won't scratch, but rub and it will!) and you'll only need to use Plexus once or twice a year.
The Boxster window folds on itself, upper outside against lower outside, and if dirty (believe me they pick it like static) it's like sandpaper. Check the wet paper towel when you clean it, it'll show some blackness you didn't notice. Some say it's too much work, no problem, they can Plexus weekly.
Free advice is worth what you pay for it, and I find that a wet towel in a plastic bag and some dry ones always go with me. My window seldom scratches, and rarely need to be Plexus'd. Tom

I'm in Socal and I've been looking at my local car shop like autozone and I can't find Plexus. Can anyone from this area point me to the right direction. I bought this one plastic window cleaner for motorcycles and convertible from Autozone and all it did was leave white wax residue on the edges of my window :mad: Please help!
