Brakes
I've got 104,000 on my 2002 Boxter, and was informed that the brakes will need to be replaced - the light has not gone on yet. What is the usual cost of this maintenance?
Thank you! |
Between $150-$200 for a set of pads (depending on which brand you purchase) and 2.5 hrs of fun. You'll spend more time removing and replacing each wheel than changing the pad.
There are plenty of threads on how to do it. Pads are easy to remove on a Porsche and you need relatively few tools for the job. Good DIY job for novices. However, brakes are a vital component of your vehicle. Be sure to carefully test them before going on a bonzai run. |
You can get 4 new Balo rotors and Mintex pads for about $275.00. Also, do a brake fluid flush.
I noticed you are in Ohio...here's a check list. * Brake Rotors - Front and Rear * Brake Pads - Front and Rear * Brake Pad Wear Sensors - Front and Rear * Brake Pad Retainers - Front and Rear * Brake Pad Vibration Dampers * Brake Rotor Retaining Screws * Ate Super Blue brake fluid (2 liters) * Wurth brake cleaner (2 cans) * Lubro-Moly anti-seize compound Porsche dealers only replace the caliper bolts if needed...use some blue locktight and some anti-sieze paste when replacing them. |
:D this costs about the same as most normal cars
