Anbody see this condensation...
..when you open the rear boot lid?
http://wetstuff.com/Box/condensation.jpg My guts tell me the cap on the coolant tank perhaps was not on as tight as needed, but as this car is different as any I've owned, it seemed wise to pass it by you. jim |
May be as simple as the cap not being tight, but...
I've heard the cap was re-designed at some point. Maybe yours needs a new cap? They can also be cross-threaded easily. My Box was doing this too, and the fix was some O rings and some type of flow valve in the coolant tank area. About $150 at the dealer. The worst possibility is that the coolant tank is cracked. It's a pain to get to and replace. ($$$) Jack |
Get that condensation about 30% of the time, its normal
They redesigned the coolant cap times - its no necessarily the coolant cap - that area seal against the boot lid, so a warm coolant tanks on a cold night spells condensation every time  |
Happened to me too...I had the old cap ending in .00 and replaced it with a cap ending in .01. Never happened since and it has been 3 months now. I also did notice the water level in the coolant tank was slowly going down. The new cap fixed all of the problems. The cap will run you $20 or so and is worth changing regardless! Good luck!

Bottom line... wipe your finger through that "condensation" and check it out. If it's simple condensation it will feel like water. If it's a problem, it will feel slick, a little oily on your fingertips. That's coolant, and it is NOT normal. A repair is required.

I was going to taste it because animals like the sweet, deadly taste of anti-freeze.. Nah - I just ran it 'tween my finners and it's 'greasy': coolant.
Thanks for the feedback. I check the cap p/n and make an appointment. .. amd burp this thread. Jim |
