Best looking Boxster hardtop ever?

I saw this hardtop this weekend at the PCA track days in Buttonwillow on a "Spec Boxster on steroids".
No idea who makes, it, but it's certainly a super lightweight hardtop for Spec Boxsters:

BTW: That was one FAST and LOUD (100 dB measured on the grand stands) 2.7L Boxster with a superb driver :D

Not sure who makes that one but has anybody used this one?

Does a hardtop remove the broomstick requirement?

FYI: It looks like Zeintec has closed its doors but not with out stiffing many who paid in full for tops that were never delivered.

^ That sucks. I had my eye on one of those Z-tops. Pricey but tempting.

There may be one Zeintop for sale that was delivered but didn't fit the owner's car.

Not sure if it's still available & I have no affiliation with the seller.

I did not mean at all to derail this track. Maybe somebody can tell Chris who makes the hardtop he saw.

I believe this is the top you are looking for:

I really liked the way that top looked when I first saw it, but the more I see it the more I like the factory top. But that's just my $0.02.

That sure looks like a Zeintop - look at the odd shaped quarter window.

The OP's photos show something with no quarter window and what looks to me to be a flatter profile (and something braced through the rear window?). Like a spec-Boxster top but...different.

rick3000 05-27-2010 07:48 AM

The Zeintop replaces the trunk, and the one I posted only covers the clamshell. But I think it gets really close, and you might be able to order it without the windows (but I don't why you would want bigger blind spots.)

After looking again I think it is most likely a custom top. A few spec boxster guys do make there own hardtops out of fiberglass. Just look at the third picture, and how the top replaces the clamshell to save weight, and the oversized braced window. I can safely say I have never seen the one pictured for sale anywhere.

IDK personally I think that quarter window setup is the ugliest I have ever seen. but hey that is my opinion.

ChrisZang 05-27-2010 03:42 PM

That could be the top from the first track pics. If it is, the spec Boxster guy removed the gay triangular side windows, or had one made sans suck.

I do like the French/Canadian (D-Moris) top!! I bet it's really cost effective in "version Kevlar/Carbone"! :D
