People say until you've taken your Porsche to the track, you won't realize what you've paid for!
And it's true. |

Perhaps, but IMO, one should not buy a vehicle looking for it to hold a given value or return monetary investment. To the other gents point, there are quite a few 911GT3RS vehicles for sale, I do understand what you mean and sincerely hope it works out that way with your purchase, congratulations, it's a sweet ride. |

That is not the only reason that I'm buying the Spyder, but would be icing on the cake. If it works out to be a good investment, great, if not, it was a hell of a car to own pcw |
Look what I started now. Lol. Enjoy your car. It is a fantastic car.

Can you, or someone, explain this. On paper, a Lotus seams like a great car (good looking, fast and I am told great handling). But I have never actually been in one. Your comment makes me think it is not a great every day driver.... |

The seats in the Lotus look uncomfortable and nonadjustable, the newest model, Evora I think it is, is much better looking coachwork than the Elise. |
While the Spyder is very capable on the track I agree that we probably won't see many of them there. It is a specialty roadster and is more likely to be found about town, in the canyons on a Sunday or carefully tucked under a cover in the garage. If you are one of the fortunate few to own one... Enjoy!

PCA is raffling a spyder this year... with a 25k cash prize in addition to the car to cover taxes. Tickets are $50 each.
Do you guys think it's worth it to buy a ticket or two? Will you do it? |
I'm trying to get my friends to chip in... if we win I'll split the weekends with them!!!
|
No! I think squandering your hard earned $50 on a silly Porsche raffle is a foolish idea ;) .

So I stopped by the local stealership today as they have a black Spyder in the showroom and I've only ever seen pictures of them so far.
I take back all the nasty things I said about it. This is a gorgeous car in person and the pics and vids I've seen just didn't do it justice. They had the top on it and it sure looks rain-drivable to me. Then I sat in it. Probably shouldn't have done that. The seats were a perfect fit and sooo comfortable. I've got the sports seats in my '99 (I believe they came out of an '03), and they don't even remotely compare to these. Wow, what a car. Then the sales guy - I think they call themselves consultants - comes along and says "So, shall I grab a plate?". It was tempting, but I said no thanks. I'm not really in a position to be able to buy one so a) it wouldn't be fair to waste his time, and b) I didn't want to risk diminishing the pleasure I get from driving my own car, which would have been a real possibility after driving a machine like this. Anyway, don't judge this car based on pictures and reviews. Go see one for yourself. It really is something. |
I agree. This car looks way better in person than in pictures. I've been to all sorts of dealerships these days looking for a Panamera Turbo with my husband and all I do is stare at the Boxster Spyder. I am definitely going to trade in my 08 Boxster for this, with AC & Nav of course. I think it is totally worth the silly do it yourself top b/c the shape is so gorgeous.

Opening and closing the top seem like a bit of a chore:

Are you kidding me! You need to go through all that hassle to get the top down
Car looks great though. |
I want one.
I like it. I have always owned Jeeps. The top reminds me of how the tops on them work. They are water tight too. I just recently (friday) bought my first Porsche. 99 Boxster in Ocean Blue? $12,000 cash. I have not even seen it in person yet. I live in Maui and it is on Oahu.
I cant wait to see it. But seeing the Spyder make me a little jealous. I love the way the top stores in the car. Look at all other removable soft tops on any brand and the do not do that. |
Sorry guys just had to post this.........
|
Porsche is the only 1 of 2 car companies in the world that charges more for its hardtop (Cayman) than the convertible (Boxster). And people still buy it.
Other is the Lotus Extige. |
