Manual driver's seat

I'm waiting for my new Boxster S to be built, but in the meantime, I stopped by a local dealer to see what he had. I sat in a few Boxsters and it appears they all come with power backrest. It was a nice surprise to me because I didn't want to spend the $1500+ for power seats. When I test drove the car, I didn't need to adjust the backrest so I didn't even think about it. The stickers on all Boxsters show the power backrest, but the order guide (of course) does not. The person
who puts together the options information ought to be taken out and shot. At least this was one surprise in my favor. I've had a couple in the other direction.

I bet you'll set it the first day you get it and never touch it again if you're anything like me. Powered anything on the seats in a boxster just don't make sense to me as there's so little fore and aft adjustment to be made in the first place.

Now this may just be me, but few others drive my car. The wife enjoys the top down ride, but gets too nervous driving it because she knows I love this car and she's not confident with a 5 speed... so the seat stays where it stays 99.9% of the time.

Anyone else leave the seat where it is and never touch it?

I am always fiddling.

If it ever gets changed - ie after a trip to the dealer - it just never seems to feel right again, does it :)

In my cars I move the seat back if I'm going on a long trip and even raise it up and inch or so for a better view. If I'm feeling racey, I'll lower it all the way down and move a little closer to the pedals, although I won't hunch my self over the steering wheel like a Nascar driver.

the seats are great in the new boxster...power seats would be nice but at 1500, a bit steep and the manual adjustment are pretty good....very few are ordered with them as opposed to the 997.....

I'm very glad my car didn't come with power seat option. It would have been a waste of money since I'm virtually the only one that drives my car and as someone else mentioned once it gets moved it takes me awhile to find that "sweet spot" again. Not to mention it just more weight and complexity which is never a good thing in a pure sports car.

I hate power seats. Think about how long it takes to move it all the way back after the wife has driven! I just grab the handle and push back, takes 1 sec.

Push, isn't the term 'NASCAR driver' an oximoron?

Adam 04-11-2005 04:03 PM

LOL, hey now......well I don't think you'll offend too many people on here. That kind of talk will get you banned on Ford/Chevy boards.:)

Brucelee 04-11-2005 04:13 PM

Well, NASCAR is good for the US Economy. Have you ever seen how much people spent on that activity???

PeterJoyce 04-11-2005 04:43 PM

Nascar attract the most spectators out of any sporting event! The tickets are not cheap at all, like $60!!!

Brucelee 04-11-2005 05:55 PM

Exactly!

BTW-although those guys drive in an oval over and over, they drive pretty darn fast in that oval!!!!!
