I think New Orleans has some of the worst surface streets. But that looks pretty terrible as far as highway goes.

Trucker surveys usually rate New York and Michigan as having the worst roads.

Ohio's secondary roads are almost universally pretty bad, although the interstates and other divided highways tend to be okay.

Drivers are part of the roads too...

I vote Seattle:(

4 lanes... 4 cars side by side .. going 15-20mph under...
If it rains.. they are going slower
If it's sunny people are not used to it and.. they are going slower
If it's no rain .. no sun.. no wind.. they are in Zen mood .. and going slower

Massachusetts is legion for its horrible roadways. Winters up here reap havoc on asphalt.
A newly paved road can be reduced to the "surface of the moon" in no time.

I-95 pick any section but the part in Georgia gets my vote.

My office used to run out of Wellesley, where my simple house would be a tool shed but still worth a couple hundred K. Anyhow, what I noticed about Boston is all the rash on most cars, apparently it's like a giant bumper cars game there. I would never want to drive my Boxster there, seems to me an old rusty truck painted cammo, a la Mad Max would be the tool for the driving job.

I nominate Sonoma County California as the pot hole capital of the USA. Since the economy turned South the roads have been sorely neglected. I took a short ride last Saturday and have to say it was not very enjoyable as my teeth rattled all the way.

Oklahoma has some really bad roads. Here in Tulsa they cheap out and use blacktop, when the ice comes around it just breaks that stuff up. After our blizzard this year it really took a toll on the streets and highways. There is road work constantly going on somewhere throughout the city.

This winter was especially harsh on the roads in Omaha. I'm scared to death to drive Punkin for fear she'll hit a whopper and do major damage.

Our esteemed mayor was out Tue helping fill potholes - the moron finally found his calling.

I second that. Seattle has drivers that could make a preacher swear. We have some of the highest gas taxes in the states and roads that are like an old fashioned wash board. I-5 between Seattle and Tacoma beats a suspension to death.
