Porsche mechanic in Maryland?
I just recently moved to the Baltimore area. Any forum members recommend an independent mech in the area? I do as much DIY as I can but would like to have a mech handy as a backup.
Thanks. |
in reisterstown there's "Ralph's Auto Service" that i hear is really good, though his price quotes have been closer to the dealership than i would care for.
i use ima motorsports in chantilly personally. |
I'm north east of Baltimore. I've been using GT Performance in Edgewood with good results. Their website is here: http://www.gtperformanceinc.com/
Their prices have been reasonable and they support the local PCA chapter and give members a discount. Found them through one of the PCA tech sessions there. |
Thanks! I'll look them up and see how they are.

There's a thread covering this (with quite a few pages): http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-general-discussions/9615-find-your-local-mechanic-porsche-specialist.html?highlight=Baltimore
I didn't find which page your location is on, but in searching for "Baltimore", this thread came up. |
JTP,
I also recommend SSI Performance located in Parkville, MD. The owner, Sloan Palitti, has fixed my cars for the past 10 years. His staff really know their stuff and they are very honest. Gennady at GT Performance is a good guy as well. But with SSI in my near vicinity I cannot justify the 30-40 minute drive to Edgewood, MD. See: http://ssiauto.com/ Cheers, Humberto 2001 Boxster, Mulsanne Bumper, Gemballa Intakes, Gemballa/Speedline 18" wheels, PSE 1986 944 Race Car 1998 BMW 318ti |
I'll try giving SSI a call too. They're closer to me than GT. Being new to Baltimore, I'm also surprised at the number of Boxsters here. Atleast five in my neigborhood and see a few on the roads and grocery stores everyday.

Porsche mechanic in the Lanham MD area
I just purchased a 1998 Boxter and am looking for a mechanic in Maryland closer to Washington DC. My car is starting to make a metal rubbing noise near the drivers side rear. Any ideas? Any good mechanics in the area?

I recommend Ralph's. When I bought my 99 Boxster last year I used him to upgrade the IMS bearing, replace the clutch and RMS. Good guy, very honest.

I have been using At Speed Motorsports in Hanover for 4 years and am very happy with them: Home - Porsche, BMW, Mercedes and Audi Repair and Performance Service in Maryland and Virginia
