Howdy - and a question
Just picked up a (new to us) 2002 Boxster S (triple black, usual bells and whistles). Other than needing wiper blades (Porsche or ?) - perfect car for us.
My girlfriend gave me an XM radio setup for Christmas, which will need to find a way into the 986. What I'm thinking is to pop out the insert that holds the cupholders, and replace it with the blank plate (that hopefully the dealer can get) for those that didn't get this option. XM would then mount to this part. Ideas? Jeff |
I have Sirius Plug and Play. Bought a bracket at Best Buy and my sound guy drilled the bracket inside the cubby hole below the Porsche head unit.
I also gave my sound guy a Becker auxiliary jack that plugs into the back of the Porsche radio so that you don't have to run your MP3/XM through an FM requency. You'll have to use the cigarette lighter to power the XM plug and play unit. The ideal set up is to buy a head unit with XM built in but i think you'll get charged for two subscriptions if you decide to buy an XM receiver for your home. In terms of sound quality This is the best way to go. No chance of getting alternator whine that way. I use a SOny 12V cigarette lighter adapter to power my Sirius which reduces the whine significantly. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...15_23_full.jpg |
What is that thing that looks like a mirror on the windshield.
|
that's the cure for the Boxster blind spot, the autobahn mirror. $20
autogeek.net sells them. I think the German police cars use them. Very useful at night. I look for headlights in that little mirror before moving into the passing lane. Its also good for merging onto highways, eliminates the exorcist rubber neck. |
Perfectlap, how does the Sirius controller mount to the dash?

help perfectlap
i second that question. Where did you get the nifty mount for your sat radio?

Perfect lap
More pictures of your interior please. Looks awesome. |
