DTC definitions: PO450: Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Malfunction .

Bad gas cap?

Taz 01-26-2010 04:09 PM

Never had it before.I just picked up a locking non venting cap put it on and got code.

When the old cap is on I can't hear the air come out when undoing.with new cap I hear the air come out but get the code p0450. Does this have to do with the other codes that I get. P1128 p1130

Sorry, I don't have those codes available. Try here ---> Manuals

Yes, common issue with aftermarket locking gas caps, the cars don't like them. We've tried Stant and other brands, but about 8 out of ten throw the code right away, the rest do it after a few starts. Put a nice new Porsche gas cap on and the problem (after you clear the code) will not return.

We eventually gave up on locking gas caps; the car's EVAP system is too sensitive…………….

if you cant clear the code it will go away after a few tanks. once the evap system does a few cycles.

Bump. ^ True. Learned that the hard way. While the topic is about locking gas cap, what do you think of last year's sales of gas cap. Here's a blog I saw on the net but it was 4 years ago:
Sale of locking gas caps triples in 2008

Since our fuel filler doors lock, why buy a locking gas cap?
