fitting speakers to door cards on 3.2s
my porsche 3.2 has no speakers in the door cards, ive seen loads with them in
so i want to put some in, how i go about this (i am very handy) i want some advice the main question is how do i mount them to the door???? how do the door cards come of? will there be the hole ready to mount a speaker? then i can cut the door card to suit the speaker thankyou adam |
You get panels from a wrecking yard (or EBAY dismantler) and swap them out. Hopefully matching color and equal or better condition. They might come with the speakers themselves, but you only want the "box" that the speakers are mounted to anyway. And then you have to run wires there. Finally you get to put in the speakers themselves. Ballpark figure...$1,000 and a fair amount of time and effort.
That's for a "factory" look - there are other ways to mount aftermarket speakers that are much lesss involved. |
If you want it to look OEM CenterIsl outlined what you have to do very well, and it will cost quite a bit. I have only heard of two or three people that took the time to add the door speakers so they look OEM.
One member here just took his Boxster to a stereo place and had them cut a 6.5" hole in each door and install speakers. He spend around $3-400 for everything and used plain black mesh grills. It turned out really well, not OEM, but not some stupid looking install with chrome speakers. Also, here is a good guide to disassembling the doors and some speaker information. Try a search on here and on RennTech for more info, there are a lot of threads on this. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/boxster/images/b/b6/Boxster_speakers_update_article.pdf |
