Focal 165vr3 6 1/2 in doors

Has anyone put these speakers in the doors of their boxster. MY 03 has no door speakers and I want to try and use the door grills that came with the models that had OEM door grills. I want to know if the 6 .5's will fit with the factory door grills and still look stock.

Thxs

Will

I fitted Blaupunct 6 1/2 so I think you will be ok. Just resurch the net for fitting after marker speakers into the doors for an idea of the shape of the panel you need to make you can run your wiring threw the door wiring loom threw the vacant terminal holes.

My '02 S has the Bose system w/door speakers. After doing a lot of research I decided to stick with the stock amp, toss the beat Becker head unit (replaced w/$180 JVC w/HD radio - big improvement), and swap out the speakers. I went with Focal 100 CVX coaxials in the dash, which sound quite good, and 130 (~5") mids in the doors, which I haven't had a chance to install yet.

Coaxials down low in the doors really aren't going to do a lot. Consider mids/woofers only and save some bucks. There's only so much bass you're going to get out of the doors, the 130s will be less involved to install and you won't be missing much vs the 165s in terms of performance. An OEM bass box behind the seats will do much more for deep bass.

I'm a serious audiophile (at home), but my car is a place to concentrate on and enjoy driving, not do serious listening. My system objective was "good enough" and solid bang for the buck, which I think I achieved. BTW, go for HD Radio, it's great.

Ive got the 165vr3s in my car and they sound great. I also have the 13WS in the Bose box behind the seats.

I did a complete overhaul of the stereo last year. If you do a search I should have a write up somewhere...

Thanks for the replies. Next question does anyone know where I can find the stock grills. I saw one on fleabay for a 2000. Did the grills change from year to year or all of them the same?

Thx will
