I used to just pull the light switch. Took alittle more effort but it worked with the "opening eyes" effect.

I actually saw this when I used to live on Maui. It was a tourist driving a convertible Mustang. Gave her a big friendly smile and wave! I guess she didn't want a tan line and I wasn't going to complain.
