hi all.
ive got a 2002 boxster its not got a/c so the control knob to turn it from the screen to your feet is a dial this turns easily first off then becomes really hard to move and the heat doesnt blow on your feet it just stays on your face.

No a/c option. Wow that's rare. I've never seen what you're describing.

Do post a picture of your dash board for the forum members.

It sounds as if the mechanism and flap that diverts the hot air from the front vents to the floor is stuck. It's probably made of "high performance Porsche plastic" and has warped and needs replacing.

Or, as with aging boxsters, some of the foam insulation used to seal up those plastic housings has become stuck in there.

Either way, you will need to pull the side panels on your center console, use a torch (flashlight) to see where the knob's mechanicals go to behind the dash, and then start removing things to get to that diverter and examine it.

This is the kind of crap that makes Porsche ownership so frustrating to me. I get insulation spit out at me through the vents every time I turn on my AC or heat full blast now.
