FOUL odor...

I only drive weekends and this time it was actually a week and half because of travel. I left a bottle of vegetable juice in the car and some weird Mr. Science experiment must have occured because it blew the top right off. and spilled all over the carpet. Out comes the carpet cleaner and lots of terry cloth towels, good as new. I get in the car and I pick up on this urine type smell. I pull over to Target and pick up some febreeze and cover all the carepting. Doesn't smell anymore.
But then I fire up the heat and POW! Smells like death....or actually more like the men's room at the Times Square Bus Terminal. Where the hell did that come from??!!

I'm about to order the 1Z or Wurth ac cleaner I've used in the past. Its like a foam that fills up the ducts. Any ideas? Where this came from or how to get rid of it?

Sounds like you fermented V8 juice in your Box. Fermentation process can produce a foul odor like you describe, from the formation of sulfur compounds. Try sprinkling some baking soda on it to absorb some of the smell. After a few hours vacuum it up, and re-apply as necessary. If you want it to have a nice aroma, you can mix the baking soda with cinnamon, cloves, and some other herbs like rosemary or lavender.

Lemon juice will remove most odors, but I don't know if it will affect the color of the carpet. You might try it on floor mats from a different car before trying it on your Boxster. Or try it in a small inconspicuous area.

good idea. I'll try that until the Wurth ac cleaner arrives. by the way, autogeek.net has a 15% discount today. I picked up some products to de-swirl over the holiday instead of watching TV for 10 hours.

So I guess the juice gas went airborn and got into the HVAC. Crazy. Good thing I wasn't gone longer.

All good suggestions. I also recommend changing your cabin filter as sometimes it will retain foul odors.

Pet stores carry a carpet cleaner with an enzyme to eliminate odors...I've used to clean carpets the kids spilled milk on.
