Lapis Blue vs. Ocean Blue - Any Difference

...trying to match a hardtop to an '01 Boxster in Lapis Blue Metallic.

Does anyone know if there is any difference between Ocean Blue Metallic and Lapis Blue Metallic (besides the year in which they are available)? Just seeing pictures, they look the same to me.

Thanks!
-Andrew

They are similar, but not at all the same. Ocean Blue takes on a different shades in the sun. My car looks purple in some lights. Lapis Blue is more of a true dark blue. I'll put some pictures of my Ocean Blue 986 up when I get a chance.

These pictures all look pretty dark, but hopefully some of the ones in the sun can show the difference in colors.

I have a Lapis Blue '02 S model. To me, the Ocean Blue is more a dark metallic navy blue while the Lapis is more of an "ink" blue color if that makes sense, slightly purple. "Lapis" is latin for "pen" if that tells you anything. Personally I don't think it would look right, maybe from a distance, but not up close.

They are very similar, but are not the same. Ocean Blue varies with light from purple to dark blue (you can sort of see it in my signature). You would be able to see a difference if the hardtop and car where different colors, it would probably look like a really bad color matched paint job.
