Normal for hardtop to creak during driving?

Just fitted my hardtop. Everything went in easy enough and the fit can be described as snug.

However, there seems to be a significant amount of creaks coming from the rear under the rear view windows where the hardtop meets the chassis. This happens when travelling across slightly uneven road and during conering.

Is this normal? I know there're 3 screws on each side of the hardtop that can be accessed to adjust for a proper fit. My problem is everything seems to fit properly already when the car is stationary. Perhaps it's just the way the hardtop is designed?

Has anyone ordered their car that comes factory fitted with the hardtop? I guess that would be an ideal benchmark given that it's fitted at the factory....

The sollution

Hardtops tend to creak when they are not adjusted correctly.
Most often it is too tight. As it was in my case. It must be able to "float" on the rubbers...

Search the net (www.ppbb.com) for adjustment instructions. At the inner sides of the hardtop you will find 2 triangle shaped plastic covers. Remove them and you will find an adjustment mechanism based on three nuts at which you can move/adjust the hardtop in the horizontal as well as the vertical direction.

That makes sense. I didn't think it could possibly be too tight. Thanks. I'll try that.

With my Miata hardtop after first installing I was getting allot of creaking.
I injected some liquid lubricant that I use on my bicycle chain on any metal parts
that were rubbing together, mostly underneath the rear window at the attachment points, and the creaking completely stoped.
When the weather got REALLY cold the creaking came back so instead of using the chain lubricant (don't know if it would freeze) I squirted some door lock de-icing spray. Worked very well.
