Paint for rims

so I am thinking about painting my rims a nice flat... or gloss black. havent decided which. however, getting them powder coated is pricey. so im thinking the DIY route. so the question is what are some tips to the painting trade? are there paints that are more suited for this? i remember seeing a home painted flat black box on here not too long ago. looked good!

i have a 01 silver box and i just want to make it stand out just a little

Most people use high heat engine enamel or something similar, the key is to clean the wheels really, really well. If you do a search there are 2-3 threads in the DIY section on this, and both posters spent 3+ hours cleaning each rim. A power washer would definitely shorten that time.
Good luck!

I painted my wheels 3 years ago and they still loog good. I went from the standard silver grey of the stock wheels to the Artic Silver of my car. Cleanning is the key and brake cleaner is a nice help. I just used a pint of car paint that I had the shop mix up for me and clear coat.
