Roock boxster rsb 340

Went to look at a Boxster S yesterday , come to find out it is a RSB 340 with a 3.6 and short mileage . does anyone know about these cars? and what they are worth ? I am going to drive it today and possibly trade-in my 01 boxster. just not shure of the conversion the rest of the car looks like it was done well . Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jason

What year is the car? If it is a real 340, you have come across a very rare car. Take the VIN number and like anytime you are looking at buying a boxster, it needs to have a PPI done, but in addition to this, I would also call Roock in Atlanta to verify credentials.

Roock AutoSport, Inc.
2310 Marietta Blvd NW
Atlanta GA 30318
Off 404.352.8000
Toll Free 888.301.9440

As far as value, I would think this would be a pricey pre owned car to purchase, but it really depends on the mileage and overall condition. Whoever owns it must know what they have so doubt it will go cheap.

These Roock modifications were well over 25k back in the day and a 340 would have been their flagship model. If it's in good condition and you can get it for a decent price, I would be all over that.

Claimed 0-60 on these were 4.8s with top speed in the 180 territory.

If you can, post up some picts.

On a reply post, go to "manage attachments". Click it and it will open up another box and you specify a target directory where the picture is located on your hard drive. The picture needs to be downsized though so it will upload correctly.

And yes, Good luck. I would love to see this car and know what they are selling it for.

Just don't pay too much

because if the Porsche dealer is having trouble selling it now, imagine what you trying to sell it later will be like. Not to mention where will you get it fixed. What parts are no longer available. Etc. Have a long talk with Roock. Also your insurance agent.

Those really aren't worth more than $3,000-$4,000, but I feel bad for you so I will give you my 2002 Boxster S as an even swap for it, just because I'm such a nice guy. I'll be by tomorrow to pick it up.

Unless you're going to turn around and sell it, I wouldn't worry about how much it's worth, it's possible you might be disappointed.

You just got yourself a badass ride, enjoy it!

I wonder if Roock addressed the IMS issue like Jake does?

Well it's hard to estimate a price without more details, such as the year. But here goes my best guess...

The early standard 986 is going cheap now, as low at $8,000 for high mileage examples. $13,000 for more reasonable cars. I think the 2000+ Boxster S is more in the $18,000 to $20,000 range. Let's say though that an extremely low mileage Boxster S would go for $22,000. Again, this really depends on the year though, as you can add a couple thousand for each year newer than 2000 your car is. Throw in a 340 HP 3.6L (I assume this car started as a Boxster S) and I think you could add anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000 to that price. It depends on how "complete" the package was that Roock put together. Do you have suspension work as well as the wheels, exhaust, and engine? Brake work? Interior upgrades? I think this car could easily be worth $30,000 especially considering the low mileage.

This car is a well optioned 02 S . I believe it has the full Roock Package except interior parts. It has H&R coil over setup Not shure of the brakes , does not look like 6 piston all around but the rotors look larger than standard S brakes.

This car was owned by a wealthy man who also owns multiple exotic cars. He bought the car brand new in 02 and the conversion was also done in 02. I like this car alot I still think this car could easily use more power than the 3.6 has.

We had spoken to Roock quite some time ago about our upgrades to 'beef-up' the M96 and nothing ever came out of it, so I'm sure the drive-train is bone stock. Like most tuners, it's body kits and bolt ons.

No offense meant Charles but if you even bothered to read the first post.... it has a 3.6 in it. That is not stock for a boxster. Now if youve had problems with Roock or you do not like them for whatever reason this this thread wasnt started by Jacabean for shortsighted opinions.

I'm beginning to wonder if this whole IMS failure thing is made up?

If you read what Charles meant, it has a factory 3.6 in it; that means it's subject to all the common failures associated with the M96 design. It wasn't a knock against Roock...just that there are no performance or preventative measures built into the engine.

Looks like a nice car...hope you got a good deal and can put the extra money into IMS upgrades.
